About Us
The site is currently run by a small team, and when not surfing or skateboarding, we handle the administration, techi bits and ‘vetting’ of all the pictures submitted. The need for the Amazing Snaps site was prompted by us wanting to browse a collection of 'interesting' pictures from around the world, easily, quickly, in one location. We wanted to share our own fab pictures with everyone else, just for fun, and we wanted in turn to see everyone else's great snaps. After all, everyone has some Amazing Snaps amongst the hundreds or thousands of pictures they've taken!
Whilst the concept of this online people’s photo gallery to the world has been work in progress for some years, the development or test site went live on the www in 2007. The growing popularity of the site will support the further ongoing development of the site’s services and functionality, with lots of plans already in place.
The site’s mission statement is ‘to freely share individual’s pictures for the interest and entertainment of others’. OK, so that’s the corporate bit, roughly translated though, ‘to have some fun snooping round everyone’s fab pictures!’
We truly live in an amazing world, surrounded by amazing places, people, events, spectacles and mysteries. And a lot of people have amazing fun, a great laugh, and see some pretty cool stuff. This site helps you share all those amazing things you have captured on your camera, that no-one else will usually ever get to see or share! Users love to upload their Amazing Snaps onto the site, and see them published on the site immediately. There's something very gratifying about choosing to 'display' your pictures and seeing them on the site, for others to enjoy those special pictures that you were actually there to take.
Whilst it is possible to search pictures on the net, the results are impersonal and grabbed from websites, and certainly don’t distinguish which are ‘interesting’ or not. Other sites require tedious registration, or only share family pictures with authorised members. Amazing Snaps allows instant uploading of your pictures, you see them on the site for yourself, and can easily browse through everyone else's pictures.
Amazing Snaps is a unique site, an online gallery, displaying anonymously your unique pictures of interest, fun or amazement, to a world-wide audience. All the pictures are deemed ‘of likely interest to others’.
